Why is my Council Tax bill for a year?

Why is my Council Tax bill for a year?

Council Tax is billed annually based on the tax year, which runs from April to March. Your local authority will issue your first council bill with the total for the whole year, but you have a range of payment options available to you.

Set up an online account using the property reference number you will receive in your first bill and in your online account you should see the option to pay in regular monthly or quarterly instalments, which will divide the annual cost into equal direct debits. There is no additional charge for dividing your payment through the year in this way.
