My electricity isn't working

Your electricity supply will only be stopped at your property if there is an emergency that requires it be disconnected, or a larger problem in your general area. If you do not have electricity at home, your first step should be to call 105. This is the UK power cut helpline, and their agents will be able to tell you if there is a problem in your area and when it will be resolved.

If your energy network distributor does not have a record of a power outage in your area you should contact the building management or property owner to check if work is being carried out on the property or in the neighbouring area. They should be able to advise you as to why you do not currently have electricity.

If you have a pre-payment meter and you run out of credit, your electric supply will stop. You can top up your meter through the app or website of your supplier if you have a smart meter, or otherwise through a key or top-up card that you will have been given when you moved in.
